Evaluate and collect information from a variety of authoritative sources to inform a choice of solutions to standard problems highlighted in this module, by applying the techniques learnt in a business context and evaluating the design decisions. Evaluate the reliability of data and information provided in this module, using pre-defined techniques and/or criteria, including an understanding of object oriented systems theory in a wider context.

Coursework Brief
Firstly, read the scenario below and then design and evaluate a solution using an object-oriented analysis and design approach. You should use Unified Modelling Language (UML) for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the proposed systems. Your assignment consists of two pieces of coursework. Both pieces are to be done individually.
Coursework 1 relates to the analysis and design of a system (worth 60% of the total marks of the assignment). This part of the assessment will assess learning outcomes 1, 2 & 3.
Coursework 2 is an evaluation report consisting of a critical commentary on coursework 1 (worth 40% of the total marks of the assignment). This part will assess learning outcome 4.
The Scenario: Edgbaston Football Club Information System
Edgbaston Football Club runs 5 youth teams aged between 10 and 25 years old. They want a digital management system that allows the club members (e.g. staff, coaches, players etc.) to use the digital management system easily and efficiently. The system will be used to:
Record the club members’ details including name, contact details, role, date they joined the club, a leaving date, etc.
Add, modify and delete the details of the club members (their name and contact information, date of joining/leaving etc.)
Each new player under 18 years old pays £50 admin fees to register and £25 monthly contribution. Each new player over 18 years old pays £75 admin fees to register and £50 monthly contribution.
If a player does not pay the monthly contribution they will be suspended and if they do not pay for three consecutive months, they will be dismissed from the club.
It should also be possible to record match details, including players, game date/time, type (friendly/tournament), home/away, the result of the game, prizes won, etc.
All members should be able to view their accounts, update relevant details (e.g. address, email, phone number etc.)
If there is a change in the game, it should be possible to record if it has been cancelled or postponed. Also, the system should keep all participants up-to-date about the situation.
If a player does not attend a game or training sessions, the system should record it and notify coaches and managers automatically.
It should also be possible to search the system for all relevant data (e.g. find player details, find game details etc.) Also, the system should be able to produce seasonal reports (each three months) about all matches played.
Coursework 1: System Design
You are required to analyse the requirements of the new system and design the main components (e.g. overall system use case, class diagrams, interaction, sequence and collaboration diagrams) for American Standard Institute of Management. You should demonstrate a broad understanding of object oriented design principles and UML techniques, and apply them on the design of the following components:
Use case diagram
Show one use case diagram with all primary use cases for the football club system. Remember that the system box only appears on the top-level diagram (i.e. football club system) and should contain use case ovals for all primary use cases such as register member, update member details etc.
Detailed use case description for two primary use cases stated in your overall case diagram such as members’ data registration and update, etc.
Brief description for all other use cases

Show conceptual classes, associations with names (e.g. player class), functions (e.g. register), and significant attributes such as in player class you would have player name, age and id.

Pay attention to the Assessment criteria / Marking scheme, the work is to be concise and technical. Try to analyse, compare and evaluate rather than simply describe.

Coursework 2 is an individual report and will be submitted in week 12 as a word document (1000 words) via Moodle / Turnitin and must include the review and evaluation of your work performed in Coursework 1. You should also review and evaluate the processes that you modelled and also their outcomes including recommendations for improvements.
Your evaluation report should show evidence of your reading and research and use Harvard referencing. This is a chance to look back on what you have done and to revisit the key design and technical decisions you made. Were they the right decisions or would you do something differently? You should also discuss the lessons you have learnt from the exercise and how you would use them to implement them in further projects.
Coursework 2 is worth 40% of the overall assignment. The marking criteria is outlined below.
