Part A:
You are asked to choose a clinical nursing issue of interest to you, research the literature and write a literature review on the available information. 
Component 1: Rationale for your chosen clinical nursing issue.
You will need to provide a rationale for your choice of the clinical nursing issue and why it is a clinical issue.
Component 2: Generate a PICO / PICo research question for your chosen clinical nursing issue.
Translate the chosen clinical nursing issue into an answerable research question using a PICO / PICo framework. P = person or population or problem I = intervention or interest C = comparison / Co = Context O = outcome
Component 3: Develop a search strategy and Identify search concepts/keywords from your PICO / PICo.    
 ( You need about 15 articles for the literature review (part B ) and 1 for your preparation for the review (part A)).
Develop a search strategy/statement with your search terms utilising appropriate database search operators and limiters.  You will need to think about synonyms or related terms for your concepts to ensure you capture the most relevant papers.  Using the search strategy, search the Nursing and Midwifery databases (Medline, CINAHL plus); a robust search strategy with a range of keyword terms around the topic Document/save your search strategy:  You must upload a screenshot of your search.
Component 4: Critique of one article.
Select one relevant article from your search results and critique the article by using published guidelines such as the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) and responding to CASP tool questions ( If your study is a qualitative study please download the CASP tool which is for appraising qualitative studies and if the selected study is a quantitative study (Randomised Control Trial recommended) answer the CASP tool questions allocated for RCT studies
Your critique should include a brief description of the research strengths, weaknesses, limitations, and implications for the future.  You must upload a full copy of the research article to the Dropbox.
Part B: A literature review (1,800 words; excludes appendices and reference list) 
Write a literature review on your chosen clinical nursing issue research topic.
Component 5: Introduction – Your introduction should consist of a clear statement about the importance and background of your chosen topic. The introduction should include your research question and background references.
Your introduction may cover:
the incidence of the health or other issue in the local population compared with national and international data
how the issue is diagnosed/identified
the current management for this health or other issue
the outcomes used to measure the success of the management
prognostic details
any costing information available
It is expected that your introduction will include a PRISMA flow diagram to illustrate the pathway on how you ended up with the particular number of articles in your search.
Component 6: Review of the literature – Based on the literature, identify and explain emerging themes. In the process, you should explain why different researchers agree or disagree with each other in these themes and draw conclusions about each point you raise.
Component 7: Conclusion: Translation to practice – Outline the implications of your findings for future nursing practice.
Reference List
All of your work must be appropriately referenced in line with academic writing principles.  Your reference list must be included using APA 7th edition format, for all literature cited in the assignment. Information on this referencing style is available from the Library.

Format: Assessments should be presented using APA 7th format; There is no requirement for a title page: Student ID number should be in the footer of each page; Pages should be numbered in the bottom right corner; Font style should be Times New Roman, Calibri or Arial; Size 12 point font
