1. Analyse supply chain performance;
2. Design logistics networks including transportation modes;
3. Analyse advanced forecasting techniques in the planning and control of logistics
networks and
4. Critically appraise the role and type of information systems in a logistics network.

AIMS
To further develop students’ analytical skills on logistics planning and control functions,
including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System.
OBJECTIVES
1. To identify problems with meeting a large order and the inadequacies of the planning and control
systems.
2. To explain the benefits Farnary would get from running a MRP system.
3. To describe a logistics planning & control system that is better suited to frequent, large orders for
the same product range.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
One report, maximum of 2000 words, covering:
• Part A) Implementing an ERP system is very challenging and needs a very careful implementation
plan. You are required to search using evidence-based references and write a maximum of 1000
word to cover:
The ERP implementation issues, propose a proper implementation plan, benefits expected from
implementing an ERP System, support your answer with a successful implementation story from
industry and one with bad experience.
• Part B) Read the case attached and provide an answer for the following (maximum of 1000, tables
and references are not counted):
Task 1) What problem became evident to Harish? Calculate the MRP to find this out.
Task 2) What should be the action? Provide evidence for your answer?
Task 3) What are the likely difficulties that Farnray will face if they continue to use their existing
system of calculating material requirements?
MARKS AWARDED FOR:
1. Part A 15 marks
