 To achieve the minimum required to pass this assignment you need to:

 This lesson would achieve all or most of the stated aims and fit into the 60 minutes
available.
 The assignment demonstrates an adequate understanding of the relevant aspects of
the course.
Merit
 This lesson would achieve all or most of the stated aims and fit into the 60 minutes
available.
 It includes some interesting activities and demonstrates a good understanding of the
relevant aspects of the course.
Distinction
 This lesson would achieve all of the stated aims and fit into the 60 minutes available.
 It includes very effective and engaging activities and demonstrates a thorough
understanding of the relevant aspects of the course.
 If the assignment is of pass standard, each aspect of the assignment will be graded Pass, Merit
or Distinction. The tutor will then give an overall band for the whole assignment and some
written feedback.
 The main consideration in awarding grades is how successful the lesson you have created for
the class described within the requirements of the assignment brief. The tutor will look at how
well you have realised each aspect of the assignment.
 Higher grades will be awarded to lessons, materials and teaching materials that would
promote enthusiastic participation and fully achieve the stated aims of the lesson.
 Language analysis, teacher language and the quality of the whole lesson carry more weight
than other aspects of the assignment.
Resubmissions
 Assignments which have not passed all assessment criteria will not be graded and will need to
be resubmitted.
 If you need to resubmit, you can make a maximum of three attempts in total on each
assignment.
