Students are required to demonstrate their understanding of the key concepts, principles
and techniques of business research and statistical analysis, as delivered in the unit from
Lecture 1 – 10. The following unit learning outcomes are relevant to this assessment:
1. Summarise numerical data and present it both by means of tables and charts.
2. Be able to calculate and interpret descriptive summary measures.
3. Develop simple regression models and interpret the regression coefficients.
4. Understand basic probability concepts.

Late submission incurs penalties of 5 (five) % of the assessment value per calendar day
unless an extension and/or special consideration has been granted by the lecturer prior
to the assessment deadline.
Submission Guidelines
• All work must be submitted on Blackboard by the due date along with a
completed assignment cover page.
• Please make sure that your name and surname, student ID, subject name, and
code and lecture’s name are written on the cover sheet of the submitted
assignment.
• The assignment must be in MS Word format, no spacing, 12-pt Arial font, justify
and 2 cm margins on all four sides of your page with appropriate section headings
and page numbers
• Reference sources must be cited in the text of the report, and listed appropriately
at the end in a reference list using Harvard referencing style. Submitted work
should be your original work showing your creativity. Students need to read and
understand the Holmes Academic Integrity Policy before they start any
assessment.

Unit. Please make sure that you submit the correct file. Any appeal relating to
submitting wrong files after the deadline will not be considered.
Adapted Harvard Referencing
Holmes has now implemented a revised Harvard approach to referencing:
1. Reference sources in assignments are limited to sources which provide full text
access to the source’s content for lecturers and markers.
2. The Reference list should be located on a separate page at the end of the essay
and titled: References.
3. It should include the details of all the in-text citations, arranged alphabetically A
Z by author surname. In addition, it MUST include a hyperlink to the full text of
the cited reference source.

4. All assignments will require additional in-text reference details which will consist

Non – Adherence to Referencing Guidelines
Where students do not follow the above guidelines:
1. Students who submit assignments which do not comply with the guidelines may
be required to resubmit their assignments or incur penalties for inadequate
referencing.
2. Late penalties will apply per day after a student or group has been notified of a
resubmission requirements.
• Students whose citations are identified as fictitious will be reported for academic
misconduct.
*Note: Students are required to form and self-enrol into groups – a maximum of 4 students per group. You
will not be able to submit your group assignment unless you are OFFICIALLY enrolled into a designated group
in Blackboard. Submit the group assignment as a single document, including the Holmes official COVER
SHEET. Once formed, the group membership should not be changed for the duration of the trimester.

Assignment Specifications
Purpose:
This group assignment aims to develop students’ understanding of various qualitative and
quantitative research methodologies and techniques, which are commonly used in practice. This
assignment consists of four (4) statistical questions which requires the application of different
statistical techniques. The main focus of the assignment is on the topics studied from Lecture 1 to
Lecture 10. This assignment is to be completed as a group assignment, but there are specific
individual components.
Assignment Structure:
This is an applied assignment. Students have to show that they understand the principles and
techniques taught in this course. Therefore, students are expected to show all the workings, and all
problems must be completed in the format taught in class, the lecture notes or prescribed text
book. Any problems not done in the prescribed format will not be marked, regardless of the
ultimate correctness of the answer.
(Note: The questions and the necessary data are provided under “Assignment and Due date” in
the Blackboard.)
Instructions:
• Maximum members of a group are 4 and the minimum is 2 members.
• Your assignment must be submitted in WORD format only!
• When answering questions, wherever required, you should copy/cut and paste the Excel output
(e.g., plots, regression output etc.) to show your working/output.
• You are required to keep an electronic copy of your submitted assignment to re-submit, in case the
original submission is failed and/or you are asked to resubmit.
• Please check your email prior to reporting your assignment mark regularly for possible
communications due to failure in your submission.
