Literature Review and Conceptual Framework
Should consider adding the work of Peter Senge on systems thinking (see his book entitled ‘The Fifth Discipline as a means both of recognising the importance of this author’s contribution to systems thinking and reinforcing the content of this chapter.
Reduce the size of the literature review chapter so that superfluous sections/content, which do not inform and/or illuminate the study aims, research questions and objectives are removed (reduce the presented literature review to no more than 50 pages).
Review, amend and present the conceptual framework in the form of a diagram/table that clearly articulates the key concepts/ideas stemming from the extant literature and reaching out into the primary investigative phase of the study.
Remove Chapter 3 and, where appropriate, disperse the relevant content to other chapter.
Spell out with greater clarity the survey strategy and the actual means and processes by which respondents to the survey were selected, accessed and interrogated. The way in which the pilot study was conducted, the reasons for any discrepancies between the expected and actual respondents surveyed, and how the problem of potential bias was addressed in the study, should also be clarified.
Indicate the extent to which the confidence intervals of the survey are acceptable.
Analysis and Discussion.
Ensure that any references made to tables, figures and frameworks in the thesis are clear and can be readily located as appropriate in the thesis document and appendices. Ensure all graphs are numbered, fully explained and captioned.
Conclusions, Recommendations and contribution.
Provide greater focus in the conclusions in relation to the study aims and objectives and spell out more prominently why and, how the study has succeeded in addressing its proposed aims, objectives and research questions. The potential for generalizability of the study to other similar regions must also be mentioned.
Within the scope of the study, spell out clearly and make more prominent the key claimed contribution to knowledge in the thesis. The implications and benefits for practice/policy and/or theory of the claimed contribution must also be clearly stated and improved.
Recommendations must be separated to facilitate effective communication to policymakers. Reflections on further work must also be included.
Proofing and Corrections.
Revisit the thesis with a view to correctly formatting all tables and diagrams.
Proof read the thesis throughout to ensure its grammatical and typographical correctness.
Ensure precision in the use of citations and references must be in accordance with the Harvard system.
